Say Cheese

I cant lie.  I love pictures and I got really excited reading about Flickr.
Reading about Flickr all I could think about was the search engine Bing.  Every day they have a new picture as a background.  When you swipe your mouse around on the picture little boxes of information pops up.  I think this would be a great tool to use in a second grade classroom.  This would be a great idea for teachers to use to help their students look more into the picture.
I also think Flickr would be a great tool for students to learn in projects they might do throughout the year.  Instead of bringing in huge posters with pictures for a project students can compile a group of photos on a single piece of paper and bring it in.  Or they can even post it on the classroom blog and present over a projector to share with the rest of the class.

I agree that flicker could be a great tool to use in the classroom. I am so excited to use it with my own students and have even started creating a Flickr page that will help them review for their test next week! I love your idea of having students use it as a supplement to presentations instead of a more traditional poster idea. I think it would also be a great tool for sharing what you are doing in class with parents and other teachers.

  3. Sarah,

I can really feed off of this Flickr enthusiasm, and I also really like the idea of using it for student posters. Along those lines, I have heard of (but never used, myself) another technology idea that caters to exactly that idea, it's called Glogster. You can find it at, you guess it, www.glogster.com. It is used for exactly what you described, online digital poster creation.

Not to take away from your Flickr enthusiasm, hopefully to add to it.
